The Washington girls’ basketball team was back in action on Thursday for the last time in 2017 and they fell to Louisa-Muscatine 40-36.

As heard on KCII, in the first half both offenses struggled to find a rhythm, going up against a 2-3 zone. The Demons had the upper hand heading into the break up 22-18. In the second half, the Falcons amped up their pressure and turned the Demons over to notch it up at 30-30 heading into the final quarter. It was back and forth in the final frame before the Falcons iced the game away from the free throw line for the four-point win. Kylee Sanders was the difference, collecting a game-high 13 points. The Demons were led by Sarah Nacos and Kira Ropp, each having eight points.

With the loss the Demons conclude the first half of the season at 3-7 and Louisa-Muscatine improves to 4-5. The Demons are off for the holiday break and will resume play January 2nd against Fort Madison.
