Iowa has had fewer traffic fatalities this year than last year.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, as of December 27th there have been 328 traffic fatalities on Iowa roads this year, a decrease of 63, or 16%, from 2016. Last year Washington County had three traffic fatalities. The deadliest month on the roads this year was September with 44. Of those who died, only 100 were known to have seat belts on. Iowans are reminded to wear their seat belts every time they’re in a vehicle.
