While some towns in Iowa now allow fireworks use in December through the New Year, Washington does not.

The City of Washington’s fireworks code permits usage by residents from 9:30 a.m. December 31st to 12:30 a.m. January 1st. The summer dates allow usage June 30th to July 8th. The code states a person shall only discharge a consumer fireworks device on property they own or where consent has been given. Also, consumer fireworks shall not be discharged by persons showing visible signs of, or determined to be, intoxicated or under the influence of a drug or narcotic. The city council approved the current code in June. To read the full City of Washington code on fireworks usage in the city limits click here.
