The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball team’s scored a River Valley Conference sweep Friday night over the visiting Wilton Beavers.

The Golden Hawk girls came from behind in the fourth quarter to score a 49-44 win. The Golden Hawks led 14-10 after one quarter and 23-19 at the half. The third quarter belonged to Wilton as the Beavers went on a 16-6 run to take a 37-31 lead into the final. Mid-Prairie made their move in the fourth, the game see sawed back and forth in the middle portions of the period before the Hawks finished things with a key basket and forced a Wilton turnover with under 30 seconds left to seal the win.

Mid-Prairie was led by a monster night from Addie Rath 26 points and 15 rebounds. Phelan Hostetler added 10. Mid-Prairie is now 3-1 on the season.

The Golden Hawk boys got their first win of the year Friday, taking down Wilton 76-58. Mid-Prairie jumped on Wilton early, scoring the game’s first 10 points and led 16-6 after the first. The Golden Hawks continued to hold that advantage into the break, leading 44-27 at the half. Mid-Prairie would stretch the lead to as large as 25 before winning by the 18 point final margin. The Golden Hawks overcame some rough play including committing 33 fouls and 21 turnovers. On the other side Mid-Prairie forced 23 giveaways and drew 23 fouls.

Kyle Miller led Mid-Prairie with 18 points and nine rebounds. Dominic Pickard added 10 points. With the win, Mid-Prairie is now 1-3 on the season. The Golden Hawk boys and girls are back in action this afternoon when they host Durant for a River Valley Conference doubleheader.
