The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams went on the road Friday night at came away with a pair of wins over the West Liberty Comets.

The Mid-Prairie girls started the night with a 58-47 win. The Hawks started slow, trailing 8-3 midway through the first quarter but ended the frame on a 6-0 run to take a 9-8 lead into the second quarter and they would not trail again. Mid-Prairie led 29 to 17 at half and would stretch that lead as large as 18 in the second half finishing out the win.

Addie Rath led the way with a double double 22 points and 16 rebounds, Shae Becker finished with 15 points. The Mid-Prairie girls improve to 5-1 on the year.

The Mid-Prairie boys scored their second win of the season at West Liberty Friday, taking down the Comets 45-36. The Golden Hawks were up 12-8 after one quarter and trailed at halftime of a defensive struggle 19-16. Things stayed tight until the start of the fourth quarter when Mid-Prairie put together a 13-1 run to grab a lead and stretch it to 11. The Golden Hawks were 13 of 16 at the line in crunch time to ice the win.

The Golden Hawks were led by 19 points from Cale Robertson. With the win the Golden Hawks are now 2-4 on the season.
