The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams made a Saturday road trip to battle the Durant Wildcats.

The Durant boys were able to hold off several Mid-Prairie charges and grab a 78-54 win. The Wildcats were hot early, opening the game on a 14-2 run. The Golden Hawks would trail by as many as 15 in the first half and cut things down to seven several times but still face a 33-25 deficit going to the locker room. In the second half the Wildcats again pushed the lead to 15 before Mid-Prairie made a charge to cut it to five. Durant closed the third quarter on a 17-2 run to push the lead out to 20 entering the final frame. In the fourth the Hawks made one more run to cut it to 11 with four minutes left but would get no closer.

Mid-Prairie was led by Cary Schaefer with 12 points. Tom Butters added 10. With the loss, Mid-Prairie is now 2-5 on the year, Durant is 5-2.

The Mid-Prairie girls won their fourth in a row taking down Durant 53-26. Mid-Prairie started the game on an 8-0 run and led 16-6 after one quarter. The second quarter also belonged to the Hawks, outscoring the Wildcats 17-6 during the frame to take a 33-12 lead into the half. The Golden Hawks continued to control action in the second half stretching the lead to as many as 28 in sealing the win.

Mid-Prairie was led by Addie Rath with 21 points. With the win Mid-Prairie is 6-1 on the year, Durant falls to 0-10.
