The Lone Tree Community School District has decided how they want to proceed in operational sharing with the Highland Community School District.

After two community meetings, Lone Tree has told Highland they are willing to share the four positions that were proposed: superintendent, transportation director, human resources, and buildings and grounds/maintenance at 20%. This means that Lone Tree would share their Superintendent Ken Crawford with Highland getting 20% of his time and Highland would share the three other positions with Lone Tree 20% of the time. These four sharing opportunities would still give a savings of $139,944 to each district at the 20% rate. The Highland School Board was hoping to share the superintendent at 50%. The operational sharing agreement will be an action item at Highland’s school board meeting January 8, and a closed session will be scheduled in February to discuss the possibility of hiring Interim Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen as a consultant next year.
