There is less than a week left for kids to get goodies from popular spots around Kalona during their annual walking stocking event.
The walking stocking kicked off at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce December 2, where children can pick up a stocking to then have it filled with surprises for free. Kalona Public Library Director Anne Skaden describes the occasion, “[The] Chamber started a program for children called the walking stocking, and that will continue through December 22. So children can go to various businesses and the library, and pick up a little treat to put in their stocking.”
A few participants have come to the library with their own stockings from home, for which the library will still give them each a gift. Skaden says this event and others during Christmas in Kalona are a great way to support the community.
