In a battle of KCII area teams Friday it was Highland who came away with a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader sweep of Winfield-Mt. Union in Riverside.

The Highland girls opened action by improving to 4-0 on the young season with a 43-34 win over the Wolves. The Huskies grabbed control of the game early, starting the contest on an 18-4 run that lasted the entire first quarter. Highland held a 22-13 lead at the break and played even with the Wolves down the stretch to secure the win. The Huskies were led by a monster game from Aly Stokes who finished with double double 13 points, and 14 rebounds.

In the boys game, Highland took a 56-43 win. The Huskies led 16-12 after one quarter and went on a 15-4 run that lasted the entire second quarter to take a 31-16 lead into the locker room. The Wolves made a move in the third quarter outscoring Highland 21-12 in the frame to pull within six but the Huskies did enough down the stretch to finish out the win. BJ Rodgers had a big night for the Wolves, finishing with a game high 27 points. The Huskies are now 2-0 on the season as the Wolves fall to 0-2.
