The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams were in action Saturday for Alumni Night.

The IMS girls opened the evening falling to English Valleys in a tight game 54-49. The Bears led 14-11 after one quarter and held a 31-22 advantage at the half. IMS chipped away in the second half trailing 40-34 going to the fourth and got within one possession in the final frame but were unable to complete the comeback. Suzanna Yoder led IMS with 26 points, Yani Guitierrez added 11. IMS is now 1-5 on the season.

In a battle of KCII area teams on the boys side, IMS blasted Sigourney 73-34. Things were tied at 10 after the first frame but IMS took control of the game with a 25-2 run that lasted the entire second quarter to take a 35-12 lead into the half. IMS continued to build on that advantage and enacted the continuous clock in the final quarter en route to the win. Five IMS players finished in double figures led by 14 from Eli Ours. Isaiah Swantz finished with 12, Mitchell Schmeider and Cole Ours each had 11 and Blake Bontrager 10. With the win IMS is now 1-4 on the season, Sigourney falls to 3-4 on the year.
