The Iowa Mennonite boys and girls basketball teams are back on the floor today at Hillcrest Union for Alumni Night.

The IMS girls basketball team hosts English Valleys in a non-conference tilt. IMS is 1-4 on the season after a 60-20 loss to Wapello on Tuesday. IMS was led by 14 points from Suzanna Yoder. On the season Yoder leads IMS scoring 17 points per game, fourth most in the conference. Her 19 assists are best on the team and eighth in the conference. Alyssa Hershberger leads IMS on the glass with 38 boards.

English Valleys comes into the night with a record of 5-2 after a win over Colfax-Mingo on Friday night. On the season the Bears are led by Madison Trimpe at 12 points per game ninth best in the South Iowa Cedar League. She also leads on the glass with 54 boards, fourth most in the SICL. Audrey Grove leads the Bears with 12 assists. These two schools last met in 2015 with English Valleys taking a 39-28 win.

In boys action IMS will host area school Sigourney. IMS is 3-1 on the season after suffering their first loss of the year Thursday against Wapello 63-52 in Kalona. Mitchell Schmeider had a team high 16 points. On the season IMS is led by Cole Ours at 18 points per game, third in the Superconference. Mitchell Schmeider leads IMS with 15 assists, he is also the top player on the glass with 24 rebounds.

Sigourney comes into tonight with an overall record of 4-2. They fell on Friday to Montezuma 85-23. Dustin Haines leads the Savages on the year with 13 points per game, sixth in the South Iowa Cedar League. He also has the team lead and is seventh in the SICL with 16 assists. Kyle Weber is the team’s leading rebounder with 30 boards.

These two teams met last year with IMS taking a 59-28 win.
