The Iowa Mennonite School and Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves square off tonight in a match up of KCII area teams at Hillcrest Union in Kalona.

The IMS boys come into tonight’s game at 2-0 on the young season after a win Friday at Columbus 71-42 where Reggie Borntrager led the way with 15 points. On the season IMS is led by Cole Ours at 14 points per game, 10th best in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Mitchell Schmieder has the team lead with nine assists and 18 rebounds.

Winfield-Mt. Union enters tonight’s matchup with an overall record of 1-4. On Saturday they were beaten at West Burlington 71-45. BJ Rodgers had 19 points to pace the Wolves. On the season Rodgers leads the Wolves, and the entire Superconference, averaging 15 points per game. Mitchell Niebuhr has the team lead at eight assists and Bryant Holtkamp leads the Wolves on the glass with 29 boards, sixth best in the Superconference. These two teams met twice a year ago, splitting the two matchups.

In the girls game, IMS enters play with an overall record of 1-2 on the season. Last time out they were beaten by the Columbus Wildcats Friday 32-23. Suzanna Yoder led the way with 11 points. On the season, Yoder leads IMS scoring 17 points per game, fourth best in the Superconference. Yoder also has the team lead with 15 assists, 10th most in the Superconference. Alyssa Hershberger leads IMS on the glass with 34 boards.

Winfield-Mt. Union enters tonight with an overall record of 4-2 on the year. They were last in action Saturday where they fell to West Burlington 41-29. Pearl Krieger-Coble led the way with a double double scoring 11 and pulling down 10 boards. On the season the Wolves are led by Lexee Hartsock at 13 points per game, sixth best in the Superconference. Jenna Buffington has the team lead with 15 assists. Pearl Krieger-Coble leads the Wolves, the Superconference and is seventh in the state with 62 rebounds. The Wolves swept both games with IMS a year ago.
