The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball team’s are back in action tonight when they travel to Columbus to take on the Wildcats in a matchup of KCII area teams.

The IMS boys come into tonight with an overall record of 1-0 after a win over Lone Tree November 28th. IMS was led in the win by Cole Ours with 14 points.

Columbus is 0-4 this season. In their last game they lost to Winfield-Mt. Union 42-33. On the season the Wildcats are led by Abel Mena scoring 14 points per game and six steals. Chepo Cardenas leads the Wildcats with seven assists, and Tommy Pretz has the team lead and is third in the Superconference with 30 rebounds.

IMS swept the Wildcats in a pair of games a season ago.

The Iowa Mennonite girls come into tonight’s action with a 1-1 overall record. In their last game, they scored their first win in more than a calendar year, topping rival Lone Tree 45-43. Yani Gutierrez led the way with 16 points. On the year, IMS is led by Suzanna Yoder scoring 20 points per game, fourth in the Superconference. She also has the team lead with 12 assists and four steals. Alyssa Hershberger has the team lead with 18 rebounds.

Columbus comes into tonight with an overall record of 0-4. In their last game they were beaten by Winfield-Mt. Union 36-21. Maki Mendenhall led the way with eight points. On the season Mendenhall leads the Wildcats with eight points per game, and 27 rebounds. Janessa Carpenter, Aubrey Duncan and Anna Hamilton each have three assists. Hamilton has the team lead with seven steals. The Wildcats swept both meetings with IMS a season ago.
