The Keota girls’ and boys’ basketball teams were back in action for South Iowa Cedar League matchups hosting English Valleys on Tuesday.

The boys continued to put up gaudy numbers offensively as they clobbered the Bears 89-22. The game got out of hand early with the Eagles jumping out to a 28-2 lead after the first and 50-8 heading into the break. Every Eagle player scored in the rout headlined by Hunter Wilson with 17 points and JD Stout had 13. The uptempo Eagle attack has propelled them to a perfect 4-0 on the season and they have averaged a remarkable 80 points per game.

In search for their first win, the girls battled the Bears but couldn’t get over the hump, as they fell 54-37. The Eagle killer came in the first quarter when they dug themselves into a 17-4 deficit. Keota continued to fight to win the next two quarters, but it was not enough, as the Bears pulled away late. Addison Sprouse had another big day with 19 points and five rebounds. The Eagles drop to 0-5 on the year.

Keota will get back on the floor Friday traveling to Iowa Valley.
