As some are settling in for the winter, others are enjoying what local parks have to offer this time of year.

Lake Darling State Park Ranger Zach Haworth says the park has been busy with reservations for their four season cabins during the holiday season. The modern cabins are available for two-night minimum reservations all throughout winter.

Haworth shares what sights can be taken in at Lake Darling, “Well it’s a great time of year to view all sorts of wildlife. We’ve seen a lot of deer in the park now that the foliage has dropped from the trees. We’re able to see a lot of wildlife like birds, you can occasionally see some bald eagles. Fishing, there’s still a lot of folks who are out there fishing this time of year, and as long as we get good ice conditions I anticipate it being a good ice fishing season.”

Haworth mentions the trails are open for activities such as walking and snowshoeing. The park has been working with a local snowmobile club to place signage on the right of ways of the trails and roads throughout the park as they are available for snowmobile use.
