Voting is underway at the Washington Public Library for the best gingerbread house.

The contest is new to the library this year and director Debbie Stanton says, “[It’s] kind of like our festival of pumpkins, because that’s so successful and people enjoy it so much Jenisa decided to do a gingerbread decorating contest. So it’s kind of the same thing, where you can do all of your decorating at home and then you just bring in the finished product. We will put them up on the shelves and people get to vote for their favorite gingerbread houses.” She adds it doesn’t necessarily have to be a house, it can be any structure. They’ve already received a train engine that is on display. Any person or family is welcome to create their own and bring it to the library for the contest. There are three prize categories: children, teen, and adult. Voting will be held through December 20th and the winners will be announced on December 27th.
