The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams were on the floor for the final time in 2017 Thursday night when they hosted the Williamsburg Raiders for a non-conference doubleheader in Wellman.

The Golden Hawk girls bounced back from a tough loss Tuesday with a 61-41 win over the Raiders. The Hawks never trailed in the game, leading 16-13 after one quarter and using a 16-2 run in the second quarter and a five minute Williamsburg scoring draught to stretch the lead to 30-17 at the half. A 13-0 run from the third into the fourth quarter put the game out of reach as the Hawks stretched their lead as large as 27.

Addie Rath led the way for the Hawks, just missing an unheard of quadruple double with 27 points, 10 rebounds, nine steals and six assists. Anna Vilovchik finished with 12 points and Shae Becker had 10. Mid-Prairie is now 7-2 going into Christmas break.

In the boys game, Williamsburg scored a 62-43 win. It was a defensive battle early with Williamsburg holding a 9-6 lead after one quarter. The Raiders got the outside game going in the second quarter, hitting three three point goals and using an 11-0 run in the period to take a 30-18 lead into the break. Out of the half Williamsburg continued to stretch their lead, growing the advantage to as many as 28 in the second half before finishing with the 19 point win.

The Hawks were led by Tom Butters and Chaz Patterson, each with eight points. With the loss Mid-Prairie is now 2-7 going into break.
