Mid-Prairie Wins One of Three at Monticello

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team traveled to Monticello Thursday night for a River Valley Conference quadrangular meet against Northeast Goose Lake, Tipton and the Monticello Panthers.

Mid-Prairie scored their lone win of the night in their dual against Northeast, beating the Rebels 45-24. The Golden Hawks got wins in contested matches from Vinnie Bowlin at 138 by fall and Cory Allen at 182 by 5-4 decision.

Mid-Prairie fell to Monticello by a 48-36 score. The Hawks had wins in contested matches from Eli Steckly at 126lbs by fall and Vinnie Bowlin at 138lbs by fall.

In the final dual of the night, Mid-Prairie and Tipton were tied at 39 through regulation but the Tigers took the match up on the seventh tiebreaking criteria, most first points, winning the category 14-10 to take the dual 40-39. The Golden Hawks got wins in contested matches from Vinnie Bowlin by fall at 138, David Murray by fall at 145, Miles Burrows by fall at 152, Cory Allen at 182 by a 6-4 decision in sudden victory, Colton Allen at 195 by fall and Isaac Boucher at heavyweight by fall.

Mid-Prairie is now 3-3 on the season and will next be in action Saturday when they travel to New London for a tournament.
