The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team is back on the mat today when they travel to a pair of tournaments in Linn County.

Last time on the mat for the Golden Hawks was Thursday at home in a River Valley Conference quadrangular. The Golden Hawks went 2-1 on the night, with wins over Iowa City Regina and West Branch while falling to West Liberty.

The majority of the Golden Hawk varsity roster will be at Mount Vernon today. The rest of the team will be at the Marion JV Tournament. The Golden Hawks will be joined at Mount Vernon by Anamosa, No. 3 in class 2A Davenport Assumption, Beckman Catholic, Cascade, East Buchanan, No. 2 in class 1A Lisbon, Louisa-Muscatine, Marion, Mount Vernon, Wapello, No. 9 in class 1A Wapsie Valley, No. 7 in class 2A West Liberty, West Marshall and Cedar Rapids Xavier. The Golden Hawks will also be joined at the tournament by area schools Washington and Sigourney-Keota. The Demons come into the day off of a 59-12 win over Fairfield in their Southeast Conference opener Thursday. The Demons have one ranked wrestler in their lineup with Tristan Westphal-Edwards checking in at No. 4 in class 2A at 170lbs. SK comes into the tournament off of a dual loss Monday to Prairie City-Monroe 63-18. The Cobras have to ranked wrestlers in their lineup with Mason Dye No. 6 in class 1A at 106lbs and Kaleb Reeves No. 3 at 220lbs. The field has a total of 25 ranked wrestlers. Action continues all day at Mount Vernon High School.
