Regals, Comets, and Bears Meet Hawks Thursday on the Mat

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team is back in action tonight when they host a River Valley quadrangular meet with Iowa City Regina, West Liberty and West Branch at Tim Grady Gymnasium.

The Golden Hawks come into the meet with a 3-3 dual record on the season. Their last time out they placed fourth out of six teams at the Jeremy Fulk Classic in New London with Colton Allen at 195 and Isaac Boucher at 220lbs winning titles.

Iowa City Regina comes into tonight’s meet with an overall dual record of 1-2 on the year. Last time out they wrestled at Pekin Saturday, finishing seventh of 10 schools with 63.5 points. The Regals have two ranked wrestlers in their lineup according to theprediament.com. Ryan Schott is seventh at 170lbs and Nick Milder is sixth at 182lbs. Last year the Golden Hawks beat the Regals 45-36.

West Liberty comes into tonight with a 5-1 overall record. The Comets are ranked seventh in class 2A in the latest team poll from thepredicament.com. West Liberty was seventh of nine teams at the Tipton Invitational over the weekend, scoring 86 points. The Comets have three ranked wrestlers in their lineup with Will Esmoil fifth at 132lbs, Joe Kelly second at 152lbs and Bryce Esmoil first at 195lbs. West Liberty beat Mid-Prairie last season 68-12.

West Branch comes into tonight with an overall record of 0-2 this year. The Bears were last on the mat Saturday at the Jessup tournament. Mid-Prairie beat West Branch 51-21 last season.

Action begins tonight at 5:30p.m. at Mid-Prairie High School.
