The WACO boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were in action Tuesday hosting New London for Southeast Iowa Super Conference play.

On the strength of Kristen Conley’s 19 points the girls were able to nab their first victory of the season 64-42. The junior connected on four threes including three in the second half to lead all scorers on the day. Kiana Miller had another productive day with 12 points and Nadiyah Brown was the other Warrior in double figures with 10. With the win WACO moves to 1-2 on the young season.

In the boys’ game, the Warriors hung around with defending SEISC champs but couldn’t prevail as they fell 56-42. The Warriors had a tough time stopping the one-two punch of Isaac McSorley and Alex Dentlinger combining for 34 points. Scoring was balanced for WACO led by Drew Kissell and Beau Beckler each with nine points. Jacob Fried was right behind with eight points. With the loss WACO moves to 1-2 on the year.

The Warriors get back at it Friday traveling to Burlington Notre Dame.
