Washington County’s unemployment rate remains low and did not change from October to November.

According to Iowa Workforce Development Washington County’s unemployment rate was 2.1% with 300 people unemployed. Area counties that experienced no change or a decrease in unemployment during the same time frame include Iowa and Keokuk counties. Henry, Jefferson, Johnson and Louisa counties all had slight increases. Lee County had the highest unemployment rate in November at 4.7%. The State of Iowa’s overall seasonally adjusted unemployment rate went from 3.0% to 2.9% with 49,100 people unemployed last month.
