Washington County’s Median Household Income Higher than State’s Rate

Iowa’s median household income is slightly lower than the U.S. Median of $53,889.

According to the Legislative Services Agency, Iowa’s median household income, for the five-year estimate of 2011 to 2015, was $53,183. Washington County’s rate is a few thousand dollars higher at $56,390. The only contiguous county with a higher rate was Iowa County at $59,375. The county with the highest median income in Iowa was Dallas County at $76,320, while Decatur County was the lowest at $38,560.
