The Washington wrestling team hit the road Thursday for their second conference dual of the year and defeated Keokuk 48-22.

As heard on KCII, it was a short night down south, as there were just seven varsity matches with the Demons being the beneficiary of five forfeits by the Chiefs. In the first contested match on the day Keokuk’s Brett Hammel lived up to his undefeated record beating Dillan Sanders at 132 lbs 12-1. Garrett Ikerd put up a tough fight on Matt Wyatt at 138 lbs but ultimately fell 7-5. David Hora got the party started for the Demons winning by fall in 1:35 over Corey Skinner at 145 lbs. After Dylan Farmer fell to Dylan Jeffers at 160 lbs by a score of 9-6, the Demons closed the door with four consecutive wins. Tristin-Westphal-Edwards and Collin Murphy both won by forfeits while Logan Escher won by fall at 195 lbs and Tanner Murphy won by fall at 220 lbs. Both teams traded forfeits at 285 lbs and 106 lbs with the final match of the day coming at 113 lbs where Tres Meredith won by fall over Washington’s Brennan Murphy. In junior varsity matches Ayden Frazier won by fall at 138 lbs and Justin Simmering won by fall at 145 lbs.

With the win the Demons move to 11-1 in duals on the year. They get back on the mat tomorrow traveling to Waukee for a tournament.
