The Columbus boys basketball team was in action Thursday in search of their first win on the year when they traveled to West Liberty.

The Comets used a big fourth quarter to steal one from the Wildcats 60-53. Columbus led 11-9 after one quarter and 25-21 in a defensive battle going to halftime. The Wildcats continued to play from ahead, leading the Comets by six going to the fourth quarter. In the final frame West Liberty turned it on, scoring 27 points to take the come from behind win. Abel Mena led Columbus with 17 points. Tommy Pretz added 15 and Eric Valdez 10. With the loss the Columbus boys are 0-9 on the season.
