The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves host the Columbus Wildcats in a matchup of KCII area teams tonight in doubleheader action.

The WMU girls are 3-1 on the year, looking to bounce back from a loss to Highland Friday 43-34. On the season the Wolves are led by Lexee Hartsock at 16 points per game. Jenna Buffington holds the team lead with 11 assists. Pearl Krieger-Coble has pulled down a team best 42 boards.

Columbus is 0-3 on the season with losses to Wapello, Highland and Wilton. Maki Mendenhall leads the Wildcat attack at eight points per game. Mendenhall is also the team leader on the glass with 27 boards. Jenessa Carpenter, Aubrey Duncan and Anna Hamilton share the team lead with three assists. The Wildcats swept the Wolves in a pair of contests last season.

The Winfield-Mt. Union boys come into tonight’s match up at 0-2 on the season, dropping games to Wapello and Highland on the young season. The Wolves are led this year by BJ Rogers, scoring 20 points per game. Cody McCreight has the team lead with five assists. Bryant Holtkamp has pulled down nine boards to lead the Wovles.

Columbus comes into tonight also searching for their first win after dropping contests to Van Buren, Highland and Wilton to open the season. Abel Mena leads the Wildcats scoring 14 points per game. Chepo Cardenas has seven assists and Tommy Pretz has 30 rebounds, all tops on the team.

The Wolves swept the Wildcats in a pair of contests a season ago. Action begins tonight at 6p.m. at Winfield-Mt. Union High School.
