In a matchup of KCII area teams Tuesday night in Winfield, it was the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves that won both ends of a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader over the visiting Columbus Wildcats.

The Lady Wolves won their contest 36-21. The Wildcats led a defensive battle after one quarter 8-4. The Wolves answered with a 9-2 run that lasted the entire second quarter to take a 13-10 lead into the break. The Lady Wolves outscored Columbus 23-11 in the second half to finish out the win. Maki Mendenhall led the Wildcats with eight points. WMU improves to 4-1 on the year with the win, Columbus is now 0-4.

In the nightcap the Wolves scored a 42-33 win the pick up their first victory of the year. WMU led 8-6 after one quarter and 22-16 at the half. The Wolves continued to slowly pull away in the second half, outscoring Columbus 20-17 to hold off the Wildcats and finish out the win. WMU was led on the night by 18 points from Cody McCreight, Christian Gerot finished with 10 points. With the win, Winfield-Mt. Union is now 1-2 on the year, Columbus falls to 0-4.
