A water main break at Washington County Hospital and Clinics restricted water usage over the weekend.

According to WCHC Foundation and Marketing Director Amy Vetter the water main break occurred at the hospital at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday. Heat remained in the facility with cold water available to the 2007 hospital addition, though no water was available to McCreedy Home. WCHC’s disaster incident command team was called into action and performed temporary fixes, while excavation and permanent repairs were made Sunday. Obstetrics patients were diverted to the hospital of their choice while all other patients and residents remained on site with no disruption in patient care. Water restrictions for the 2007 building addition were lifted Monday morning. Water restrictions remain in place for McCreedy Home and services provided in the 1968 building as WCHC works with the City of Washington to obtain water samples to send to the State Hygienic Lab for further testing. Results of the water samples are anticipated no later than Tuesday.
