The Washington wrestling team traveled to Fairfield on Saturday for the Southern Iowa Classic and placed fourth out of 12 teams.

The Demons managed fourth place with a total of 126 points. Fort Madison won the tournament with 179 points. Washington had a pair of wrestlers place first on the day including Tristin Westphal-Edwards and Collin Murphy. Westphal-Edwards (38-1) took home first at 170 lbs with a fall in 30 seconds, a 10-2 major decision, and an 8-3 decision in the championship match. Murphy (29-9) won all three of his matches at 182 lbs by fall in a combined 1:37. The Demons had three-second place finishers including Walker Ikerd (27-6) at 120 lbs, Dillan Sanders (26-12) at 132 lbs, and Tanner Murphy (28-5) at 220 lbs. Other top finishes include Kiowa Keith (25-15) placing third at 152 lbs and Matt Collett (22-19) fifth at 106 lbs.

It is now survive and advance time for the Demons, as they will get back on the mat Saturday hosting sectionals.
