The Washington boys’ basketball team got a much-needed victory Tuesday when they went on the road to down West Liberty 69-55.

As heard on KCII, right out of the gates Cale Hobscheidt was poised for a big day scoring the Demons first six points and they held an early 6-2 lead. The Comets started to get after it defensively and turned the Demons over to stick around in the first half. The Demons also worked themselves into foul trouble and the Comets took advantage at the free throw line. West Liberty had the slight 23-22 lead at half. In the final two quarters it was a game of runs. The Demons jumped out to a 48-39 lead at the end of three but it didn’t take long before the Comets stormed right back. The difference was Jack Redlinger, as the senior was a man on a mission racking up 20 points in the final two frames. Washington pulled away late to manage the 14-point road win. Redlinger finished with a game-high 28 points on the day and Hobscheidt was also in double figures with 13.

With the win the Demons get their first win of 2018 and move to 3-6 on the year. West Liberty drops to 2-8. Washington has a quick turn around when they travel to Keota tomorrow.
