Saturday was a big day for the Washington Demon wrestling team as they captured the 2018 Gary Curtis Invitational Championship at Highland.

Washington stormed past the competition posting 200 points on the day. South Tama was second with 187.5 points. The Demons crowned three champions on the day including Walker Ikerd at 120lbs who took his title bout by fall over Tucker Bright of Columbus. Tristan Westphal-Edwards topped the podium at 170lbs winning the championship match by 4-2 decision over Ryan Schott of Iowa City Regina. Tanner Murphy was a champ at 220lbs, winning the title match over Dalton Sell of Muscatine by fall. Garrett Ikerd at 138lbs and Mitchell Huisenga at 285lbs were both runners-up.

Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union finished third in the team standings with their score of 126 points. The Wildcats crowned one champion on the day with Jarod Kadel taking the title at 106lbs. Kadel won the title match by 4-1 decision over Aidan Noonan of Cascade. Tucker Bright at 120lbs and Cam Rice at 132lbs were both runners-up.

The Highland Huskies were sixth at their own tournament with 91 team points. The Huskies were led by a trio of third place finishes with Caedon Harbison at 120lbs, Cullen Klebe at 126lbs and Cory Stewart at 138lbs all taking third.

Mid-Prairie was 13th of 13 schools with their score of 25 team points. Top finishes for the Golden Hawks included Isaac Boucher third at 220lbs and Colton Allen fifth at 195lbs.
