Drought conditions in Iowa have worsened as of late.

The amount of the state in moderate drought nearly doubled from last week to this week with 15.23% in moderate drought. The moderate drought area is spread across southeast Iowa. On the other hand, the overall amount of Iowa that is abnormally dry dropped from about 74% to 54%. Washington County is now mostly in moderate drought, as are Johnson, Louisa, Henry, and Jefferson Counties. Iowa and Keokuk Counties are abnormally dry with areas of moderate drought.
