The Keota boys and girls basketball teams are back on the floor for the first time in 2018 Friday when they host Colfax-Mingo in a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader.

The Keota boys enter play with a 7-3 overall record. They handled North Mahaska 67-45 in their last game before break. JD Stout leads the Eagles and the SICL, scoring 22 points per game. Luke Greiner leads the Eagles with 40 assists, second in the SICL and Jack Eakins leads Keota on the glass and is third in the conference with 76 boards.

Colfax-Mingo enters Friday with an overall record of 7-2. The Tigerhawks knocked off Sigourney 76-45 in their final game before Christmas. On the season Colfax-Mingo is led by Jared Nichols scoring 19 points per game, best in the SICL West his 111 rebounds also lead the team and conference . Johnathan Jacobs is best on the team and leads the SICL West with 61 assists. The Eagles beat the Tigerhawks 84-60 a season ago.

In the girls contest, Keota enters action looking for their first win on the season. The Eagles were beaten 55-19 by Montezuma in their last game before Christmas. On the season Keota is led by Addison Sprouse, scoring 14 points per game, fourth most in the South Iowa Cedar League East division. She also leads the way on the glass with 43 boards. Jill Schulte has the team lead with 25 assists.

Colfax-Mingo is 3-7 on the year, in their final game before break they were beaten by Sigourney 74-46. Payton Rhone leads the Tigerhawks scoring 11 points per game. Delaney Underwood has the team lead with 10 assists and Ries Wilson has pulled in a team best 59 rebounds. A season ago the Tigerhawks won this matchup 52-40.

Action begins Friday at 6 p.m. at Keota High School.
