It was a big night in Keota on Friday when the Eagle basketball teams swept Colfax-Mingo in a South Iowa Cedar League matchup.

The Keota girls’ came out on top in a 39-36 seesaw game to snatch their first win in nearly two seasons. In the defensive battle, the Tigerhawks held an 11-10 advantage after the first, but went cold in the second frame and the Eagles led 18-13 at the break. Colfax-Mingo cut the deficit to two heading into the fourth but Keota would not be denied by managing the three-point victory. Addison Sprouse had another big day with 21 points including four of five from behind the arc. Addison Swanson was also in double figures with 10 points. With the win the Eagles move to 1-11 on the year and the Tigerhawks drop to 3-9.

The Keota boys’ made it a perfect two for two on the night by downing the Tigerhawks 68-63. Much like the girls, it was back and forth with Colfax-Mingo up 14-12 after the first, but the Eagles took a 34-29 lead into the break. The game was tied heading into the fourth quarter before a 23-point outbreak by Keota sealed the victory. JD Stout had a monstrous day with 28 points and Jack Eakins had 23 with 12 rebounds. The Eagles improve to 8-3 on the year and the Tigerhawks drop to 8-3.
