The Columbus Community basketball teams hit the road Friday traveling to Burlington Notre Dame and the Falcons swept the two contests.

In the girls’ game the Wildcats struggled to get anything going offensively losing 53-23. The Falcons got rolling early taking a 14-3 lead after the first and 30-11 lead heading into the break. It was much of the same in the second half, as the Falcons managed the 30-point win. Anna Hamilton and Vanessa Cuellar each had five points a piece to lead Columbus. With the loss the Wildcats drop to 2-11 and the Falcons improve to 6-6.

In the boys game Columbus had a hard time stopping the Falcons and fell 69-39. The Wildcats hung tough in the first quarter down just 10-9, but in the second and third frame the Falcons outscored them by 25 points to cruise to the victory. Chepo Cardenas had a big day for the Wildcats with 14 points and nine rebounds. Tommy Pretz was also in double figures with 10 points. Columbus fall to 0-13 and Burlington Notre Dame improves to 9-4.

The Wildcats get back at it tomorrow hosting Winfield-Mt. Union.
