As January winds down, can you say that you’ve kept your New Year’s resolution?

Washington County Public Health Administrator Danielle Pettit-Majewski reminds people that taking small, incremental steps toward a healthier lifestyle are more likely to stick, “Little bits of movement throughout the day count. So even if you want to shoot for 30 minutes of activity, but you don’t necessarily have 30 minutes at a time, three 10 minute blocks, like if you can walk on your morning break, or over your lunch, or on your way home, or after work, or after dinner, any time you can add in those small bits of movement they’re going to accumulate throughout the day and it is going to have an impact.” A few ways to get some more steps built into your life include taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking further from the door when grocery shopping. She says those small steps can be added at any time. Healthy changes can be made at any point in the year.
