The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams swept away West Liberty Tuesday night in a River Valley Conference doubleheader at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.

The Golden Hawk girls scored the win 59-39. Mid-Prairie went on a 12-2 run in the first quarter. The Hawks controlled the first half taking a 29-16 lead into the locker room. In the second half, Mid-Prairie scored the first five points after break and would stretch the lead to 27 in coasting to the win. Addie Rath led the way with a double double 12 points and 12 rebounds, Shae Becker and Phelan Hostetler each had 11. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 11-8 on the season.

The Golden Hawk boys scored the season sweep over West Liberty with a 65-53 win. Mid-Prairie used a second quarter run to build a 10 point lead only to see the Comets rally and tie the game at 30 at half. In the second half the Golden Hawks scored the first seven after break, West Liberty put in the next eight and then the Hawks took over in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Comets 20-9 in the fourth to grab the win. Cale Robertson led Mid-Prairie with a career high 21 points. Tom Butters went double double 16 points, 14 rebounds. The Hawks are now 5-14 on the year. Both boys and girls teams will be in action Friday for senior night against Cascade.
