Hawks Tangle With Tigers on the Road

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams hit the road for Tipton tonight and a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Tigers.

The Golden Hawk girls stand at 8-2 on year following a come-from-behind win Friday at North Cedar 53-41. Addie Rath led the Golden Hawks with 14 points. On the season Rath is the team leader averaging 18 points per game, second most in the RVC. Her 85 rebounds are best on the team and 10th in the River Valley. Anna Vilovchik has a team high 29 assists.

Tipton enters play with an overall record of 3-7. The Tigers were beaten by Cascade on Friday 53-46. On the season, Tipton is led by Amanda Smith at 13 points per game. Her 119 boards are best on the team and fourth most in the River Valley Conference. Zoe Rezac leads the Tigers with 29 assists. These two teams met earlier in the season with Mid-Prairie taking a 56-52 win in Wellman.

On the boys side Mid-Prairie enters action with an overall record of 2-8, following a 59-50 loss on Friday at North Cedar. Tom Butters led the Hawks with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the setback. On the season Mid-Prairie is led by Cale Robertson at 10 points per game. Brad Tornow is best on the team and 10th in the conference with 24 assists. Butters has the team lead and is sixth in the RVC with 68 rebounds.

Tipton enters tonight’s boys contest with an overall record of 8-4. Last time out they fell to Cascade 58-32. Logan Hoffman leads Tipton and is second in the RVC scoring 21 points per game. Jacob Tischuk leads the River Valley Conference with 45 assists. Frank Bierman leads the Tigers, RVC and is third in the state with 115 rebounds on the season. Tipton won the first matchup between these schools in Wellman 81-60.

Action begins tonight at 6p.m. at Tipton High School.
