The Highland School Board has decided on operational sharing with the Lone Tree School District.

The board approved sharing Lone Tree Superintendent Ken Crawford with Highland getting 20% of his time. In return, Highland will share their transportation director, human resources liaison, and buildings and grounds/maintenance director with Lone Tree receiving 20% of their time. This agreement commits to only the 2018-2019 school year, for which Highland Interim Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says is a good short-term solution. Jorgensen says he hopes 40% sharing will be considered next year. The Lone Tree School Board is set to consider the agreement at their meeting tonight. This operational sharing proposal would give a savings of $139,944 to each district.
