It was a battle of area teams in Winfield on Friday night and Highland came out on top by sweeping a double-header against the Wolves.

In the girls game it was a seesaw battle before Highland held on to a 53-47 victory for their second win against the Wolves this season. In the first quarter it was all Wolves, jumping out to a 15-7 lead when the Huskies were able to chip away to only be down two at the break. Highland grabbed the lead in the third and held on the rest of the way in part by shooting 12-14 from the line. Alyson Stokes led the way for the Huskies with 22 points and Abbie Miller added 16 with 12 rebounds. Lexee Hartsock kept WMU around posting 20 points and Allie McArtor had 13 boards. With the win Highland improves to 10-3 and Winfield-Mt. Union drops to 7-8.

In the boys game it was all Huskies, as they won every quarter en route to an 84-47 win. Highland jumped out to an 18-11 lead after the first and 47-33 at the break. The offensive outbreak by the Huskies continued in the second half, as they managed the 37-point rout. Zack Lasek led the charge for the Huskies with 21 points and Trey Lasek was right behind with 20. Cody McCreight and BJ Rodgers had 13 points each for the Wolves. With the win Highland moves to 7-4 and WMU falls to 1-13.

The Huskies get back at it Tuesday hosting Iowa Mennonite and the Wolves travel to Columbus Community.
