It’s a Southeast Iowa Super Conference showdown in Winfield tonight when the Wolves welcome Highland for a double-header.
When the two teams got together last month the lady Huskies bested the Wolves 43-34. Highland (9-3) has found their groove winning four of their last five contests. The Huskies have got it done on the defensive end all season long only giving up an average of 37 points a game. Alyson Stokes leads them with 16 points and 11 rebounds a contest. The Wolves (7-7) are still trying to find their footing after losing two of their top players to injury. Lexee Hartsock has stepped up for WMU in Pearl Krieger-Coble and Jenna Buffington’s absence, averaging 14 points and seven rebounds a game.
For the boys the Huskies took care of business in their first meeting 56-43. Highland (6-4) has won two of three games in 2018 including beating previously undefeated Wapello last week. Zack Lasek leads the Huskies with 21 points and 10 rebounds a game. BJ Rodgers has done it all offensively for WMU (1-12) leading the team with 14 points a game and 41 assists on the season.
The action gets started at 6 p.m. tonight at Winfield-Mt. Union High School.
