The Highland boys and girls basketball teams hosted the Wapello Indians/Arrows for a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader Tuesday night in Kalona.

In the girls contest the Arrows scored a 45-34 win. Wapello got big efforts from Addisyn Lolling with 13 points and Tiffany Parsons with 12 to hold off the Huskies. Murphy Beinhart led the way for Highland with 12 points. With the loss the Highland girls fall to 7-3.

The Highland boys put it all together Tuesday and took out the undefeated Wapello Indians 79-75 in double overtime. Highland was up 14-11 after one quarter and held a slim 33-31 lead at the break. Things stayed tight in the second half with the contest tied at 47 through three. Highland held a two point lead going into the final four minutes before back to back triples from the Indians gave them the advantage. In the games final minute each team cashed in a chance at the free throw line, Trent Massner knocked down a pair for Wapello and Zack Lasek two for the Huskies sending the game to overtime at 62 each. Lasek again came up big late in the first overtime, scoring in the final minute to tie things at 68 with the Indians missing a shot at the buzzer, the game went to a second extra period. Lasek continued to carry the Huskies knocking down two more clutch free throws at the line to grow the lead to 77-72 with under 30 seconds left as Highland held on for the win. Zack Lasek put up 36 points including 13 in overtime to lead the Huskies to the win. Highland is now 5-3 on the season.
