There have been 14 influenza-associated deaths in Iowa so far this flu season.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, flu is widespread in Iowa and there have been influenza outbreaks in at least 10 long-term care facilities. There were 169 hospitalizations, 10 were children under the age of four years old, and 101 were people over the age of 64. To help limit the spread of illness people are reminded to clean their hands often, cover their coughs, and contain illness by staying home when sick.
