Hillcrest Union is the site for an area showdown Friday when Iowa Mennonite School welcomes Columbus for a Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball doubleheader.

The IMS girls enter play with an overall record of 2-11. Tuesday they dropped a game to Highland 56-24. Suzanna Yoder led the way with 18 points. Yoder has the team lead and is second in the conference scoring 22 points per game. She’s best on the team and sixth in the conference with 48 assists. Alyssa Hershberger has the team lead with 97 boards.

Columbus enters play with an overall record of 2-12, in their last game they fell to Winfield-Mt. Union 47-43. Courtney Zeahringer and Anna Hamilton each had 13 points. Hamilton leads the Wildcats scoring seven points per game. She also has a team best 12 assists. Maki Mendenhall leads the Wildcats on the glass with 76 boards. Columbus won the first matchup between these schools 32-23.

The Iowa Mennonite boys come into the game with an overall record of 10-2. They handled Highland on the road Tuesday 68-55. Cole Ours finished with 16 points. He’s best on the team and third in the conference scoring 16 points per game. Caleb Gingerich is best on the team and third in the conference with 55 assists. Mitchell Schmeider leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 106 rebounds.

Columbus enters play looking for their first win on the season. The Wildcats fell to Winfield-Mt. Union 50-33 on Tuesday. On the season Columbus is led by Tommy Pretz scoring 14 points per game, seventh in the conference. He leads the Wildcats with 104 rebounds fifth in the conference. Chepo Cardenas is seventh in the league with 39 assists. IMS won this matchup earlier in the season 71-42.
