One of the best rivalries in Southeast Iowa will see a new chapter written tonight when the Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams travel to Lone Tree to battle the Lions in a Superconference doubleheader.

The IMS girls enter action with a 1-9 overall record. They fell to Mediapolis on Friday 75-46, despite a career high 32 points from Suzanna Yoder. Yoder leads IMS on the year scoring 20 points per game, third most in the Superconference. Her 30 assists are also best on the team and eighth most in the Superconference. Alyssa Hershberger leads IMS on the glass with 57 total boards.

Lone Tree comes into the night with a 1-10 overall record. On Friday, they were beaten by Winfield-Mt. Union 42-39. On the season the Lady Lions are led by Riley Warson scoring 10 points per game, 10th best in the Superconference. Her 15 assists are also best on the team. Emily Feldman leads Lone Tree on the glass with 61 rebounds. IMS won the first meeting of the year between these schools 45-43 in Kalona.

On the boys side IMS comes in red hot at 8-1, winners of five straight games including a 63-46 win over Mediapolis on Friday. Cole Ours and Mitchell Schmeider led the way in the latest win each with 15 points. On the season Ours leads the IMS attack scoring 15 points per game, fourth most in the Superconference. Caleb Gingerich has the team lead with 53 assists, second in the Superconference. Mitchell Schmeider is best on the team with 83 rebounds, fifth most in the league.

Lone Tree comes into tonight with a 5-5 overall record. They were winners over Winfield-Mt. Union Friday 75-70 behind 27 points from Brock Smith. On the year Smith leads Lone Tree offensively, averaging 14 points per game, ninth best in the Superconference. Smith also has the team lead with 85 boards, third in the league. Keegan Edwards has a team high 41 assists, fourth most in the conference. IMS won the first matchup of the year between these two 74-33 in Kalona.
