The Iowa Mennonite School and WACO boys and girls basketball teams squared off in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader at Bob Hilmer Court Friday.

In the girls contest WACO scored a 54-42 win. The first frame was a defensive battle with IMS leading 4-3. The Warriors opened things up in the second, knocking down six threes in the quarter en route to nine total on the night, to take a 23-15 lead into the half. The Warriors finished the game out down the stretch, 12 of 13 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Kiana Miller led WACO with 17, Aubri Garnsey had 16 and Kristin Conley finished with 12. IMS was led by Suzanna Yoder with 23, Alyssa Hershberger ended with 19. WACO improves to 7-11 with the win IMS falls to 3-13.

In the boys game IMS used a first half run and free throw shooting to grab a 57-42 win. Things see-sawed back and forth in the first quarter with IMS leading 9-8 after one. In the second IMS scored eight straight and finished the run at 11-2, taking a 23-20 lead into the half. In the third a 12-5 run stretched the lead further with IMS taking a 40-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In the final frame IMS used strong defense and aggressive offensive to get to shoot 21 three throws in the quarter, hitting 14 of them to close out the win. Cole Ours led IMS with 16, Reggie Borntrager had 12 and Eli Ours finished with 11. Drew Kissell led WACO with 13 points including three threes. With the win IMS improves to 14-2. WACO falls to 6-10.
