Iowa Mennonite Opens 2018 Tuesday

The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams are back on the court tonight when they host the Pekin Panthers in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader.

The IMS girls enter play with an overall record of 1-7. In their last game before break they were beaten by Highland 57-33. On the season IMS is led by Suzanna Yoder scoring 20 points per game, third in the Superconference. She also has the team lead and is sixth in the Superconference with 30 assists. Alyssa Hershberger leads IMS on the glass with 57 rebounds.

Pekin comes into the contest with an overall record of 9-1. They beat Winfield-Mt. Union in their final game before break 49-32. The Panthers are led by Maci Gambell scoring 21 points per game, second in the Superconference. She is also best on the team and fourth in the league with 83 boards. Zoey Wright is best on the team and second in the Superconference with 46 assists. Last season the Panthers swept both games in the series.

The Iowa Mennonite boys come into tonight’s action with an overall record of 6-1, in their last game they beat Highland 71-55. Cole Ours leads the IMS attack scoring 17 points per game, fourth in the Superconference. Caleb Gingerich is best on the team and second in the conference with 44 assists. Mitchell Schmeider has the team lead and is fifth in the Superconference with 65 boards.

Pekin enters play with an overall record of 6-2. In their last game they handled Winfield-Mt. Union 60-38 before break. On the year the Panthers are led by Cameron Millikin scoring 16 points per game, fifth most in the Superconference. Caleb Comstock is best on the team and fourth in the conference with 29 assists. Kennan Winn leads Pekin on the glass with 45 boards, ninth in the conference. Last year the IMS boys swept both games in the season series.
