The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams scored wins over rival Lone Tree on the road Tuesday.

The IMS girls got their second win of the year and a season sweep of the Lions with a 46-41 victory. Lone Tree built an early six point lead and took a 20-18 advantage into the locker room. The game went back and forth in the second half with the Lady Lions leading the majority of the way and each team’s leading scorer, Riley Warson for Lone Tree and Suzanna Yoder for IMS putting on a show. Yoder hit the biggest shot of the night, a three pointer with a minute left to put IMS up by two and they would do enough work at the line to make that lead stand up.

IMS was led on the night by Suzanna Yoder with 17 points. Alyssa Hershberger had 13 points and 17 rebounds for a double double. Lone Tree was led by a monster 26 point game from Riley Warson. With the win IMS is now 2-9 overall. Lone Tree falls to 1-11.

Iowa Mennonite took a tight boys contest by a 63-53 score. IMS used an early 9-2 run to build a 10 point lead. Lone Tree chipped away and the Lions took a brief two point lead near the end of the first half, trailing just 31-26 at the half. Things were tight through the third and into the fourth quarter. With the game tied at 47 late in the third, IMS closed the night on a 16-6 run to secure the win.

Cole Ours led three IMS players in double figures with 18 points, Reggie Borntrager had 16 and Mitchell Schmeider 14. Brock Smith led Lone Tree with 18, Austin Marshek had 16 off the bench and Keegan Edwards finished with 14. IMS is now 9-1, winners of six straight, Lone Tree falls to 5-6.
