Iowa Mennonite Travels to Wapello Friday

The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams are on the road tonight to take on the Wapello Arrows and Indians in a Superconference doubleheader.

The IMS girls come into tonight with an overall record of 2-9. They beat Lone Tree 46-41 on Tuesday behind 17 points from Suzanna Yoder. Yoder leads IMS this year scoring 21 points per game, second most in the Superconference. Her 45 assists are best on the team and sixth in the Superconference. Alyssa Hershberger has the team lead with 90 rebounds, eighth in the Superconference.

The Wapello girls enter tonight with an overall record of 8-4. Tuesday they beat Winfield-Mt. Union 45-29. Tiffany Parsons had 12 points. She leads the Arrows scoring 12 points per game, ninth in the Superconference. Her 64 assists are also best on the team and fourth in the Superconference. Her 80 rebounds also lead the Arrows. Wapello won this matchup earlier in the year 60-20.

The Iowa Mennonite boys enter tonight with a 9-1 record on the year, winners of six in a row, looking to avenge their only loss of the season. IMS beat Lone Tree 63-53 on Tuesday behind 18 points from Cole Ours. On the year IMS is led by Ours scoring 16 per game, third most in the Superconference. Caleb Gingerich is best on the team and second in the league with 53 assists. Mitchell Schmeider’s 91 rebounds are best on the team and fourth in the Superconference.

Wapello comes in with a matching 9-1 record. They rolled Winfield-Mt. Union Tuesday 72-32. The Indians are led by Trent Massner, scoring 21 points per game, second in the Superconference. Massner is also best on the team and third in the state with 77 assists. Keaton Mitchell leads the Indians with 73 rebounds, seventh in the Superconference. The boys game is for the outright lead in the Superconference championship race. Wapello won the first game between these two 63-52.
