Most people would consider 500 points and 240 rebounds a solid career. Those numbers are equivalent to a productive two or three year starter about to graduate. That is, unless you are Zack Lasek. The Highland sophomore has already posted those gaudy numbers in just one and half years and has emerged as one of the top players in the state.

With only two seniors on the team, Lasek has led the youth movement for the Huskies in a variety of ways dating back to last year. As a freshman Lasek led the team in points and rebounds with 13 and 7 per game, respectively.  This year the sophomore has seen that number rise to 20 and 11 per game through seven contests. His 20 points per game currently ranks second in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 11 rebounds is third. Defensively the sophomore has been just as dominant with a conference leading 14 blocks. Lasek has helped his team to a 4-3 start on the year heading into the break.

You can see the sophomore and his Huskie teammates back on the court tomorrow hosting Wapello.
